The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

Answers telephones, enters prescribed data into computer system, and performs general clerical work. Performs additional tasks as requested by Chairman of Pathology or his/her designee .

Qualifications:

Required:

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Minimum of 0-6 month prior experience
• On-the-job training provided
• Successful completion of all Orientation Programs

Scheduling Requirements:

• Shift- 7:00am-3:00pm
• Part Time/Flexible

Essential Functions:

• Adheres to all policies regarding the safe handling and disposal of specimens, and maintains a clean and safe working environment,
• Reference: Safety Manual
• Answers telephone giving factual information according to the nature of the question and within hospital guidelines
• Completes mandatory education in a timely manner
• Participates in on-going education - in service, continuing education, etc.
• Files daily summary and other reports and duplicates reports as requested by physicians and patients
• Greets Department of Pathology outpatients
• Checks face sheet to verify that patient s name, date of birth, social security number and physician are correct
• Mails all outpatient results to appropriate physicians offices
• Mails and registers PKU s to State of New Jersey,
• Maintains files of authorization of all release forms signed by patients
• Recognizes issues/occurrences that need to be brought to the attention of the Clerical Supervisor, Pathology or Administrative Director
• Reviews on a periodic basis all policy, procedure and instrument manuals in order to ensure compliance and maintain current knowledge of procedures
• Schedules appointments for laboratory tests
