Seeking a Construction Controller for a high-end residential construction company in Union County, New Jersey. You will oversee financial activities of the construction company as well as identify areas of improvement to increase efficiency. This position will be in charge of directing and overseeing the accounting functions and managing all job cost reporting and calculations. Reporting to the General Manager, the Controller is part of the management team and is responsible for managing the general accounting function and financial statements. Experience with job costing and allocating overhead costs a must. Analysis of work-in-progress and profitability will be a critical function of this position.

• Oversee financial operations including AP/AR, job cost accounting, payroll, cash management and financial reporting
• Calculation and reporting of job costs and work-in-progress
• Maintain the system of internal accounting controls and financial reporting
• Manage budgeting, forecasting and analysis
• Maintain state registrations, business and tax licenses, etc.
• Manage relationships with banks, financial institutions and insurers
• Work with CPA firm to fulfill requests for tax returns and audits.

Job Requirements, Skills & Qualifications:

• BA/BS in Accounting
• At least 5 years of accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of Sage/QuickBooks and Excel
• Ability to work with Senior Management to ensure financial directives are followed
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Experience managing a small team
• Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines and be able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
