Forklift Operator

The Forklift Operator provides an opportunity for the candidate to develop skills as an advanced warehouse professional in our food production facility in Totowa, NJ. The candidate will play a key role in assuring that our customers are supplied all of the items that they order on-time and in full.

The Forklift Operator role will be on the 1st shift.

Essential Job Functions:

• Follow all GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices), Safety, and Environmental regulations as well as company policies.
• Picking and preparing customer orders for shipment.
• Loading finished good pallets into trucks being shipped to customers.
• Receiving and put-away palletized finished goods.
• Giving recommendations to work safer, more efficiency and better serve the (internal and external) customer.
• Work in a safe manner and comply with the Environment, Safety and Health policies.
• Collaborative approach when dealing with others.
• Keep work environment clean and tidy to ensure operational efficiency.
• Follow-up instructions from supervisors or written procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

• Experienced in performing electronic transactions belong to physical movements of ingredients across the production facility.
• High school diploma or its equivalent.
• Able to drive a forklift.
• Able to physically pick and build pallets with ingredients up to 55 pounds each.
• Work accurately and methodically.
• Good communication skills and a team oriented mentality.
• Good understanding of the internal customer and impact on failure/ cost of poor quality.
• Replenish full pallets to single pallet locations.
• Pick both full and partial pallets and stage for shipment.
• Load trailers to both customer and the plant.
• Duties, responsibilities and activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Manufacturing plant is large, open floor areas with loud machinery, requiring some areas for workers to wear ear protection to guard against noise. Workers are frequently exposed to high temperatures during the summer months. Some work in cold environments during winter months. Production/Warehouse areas are dusty.
• Workers are required to wear masks, hair nets, or gloves to protect the product from possible contamination. Certain areas require respirators.
• In this position, you may be exposed to common airborne or surface food allergens—including, but not limited to, wheat, soy, eggs, dairy, and sesame—during the handling, storage, transport of materials, or when accessing the production floor.
• Workers usually stand for the majority of their shifts while tending machines or driving a forklift. Often lifts 55 pound bags or boxes while building pallets. Loading, unloading, or cleaning equipment may require lifting overhead, bending, and reaching.

Our offer

This position is covered under a collective bargaining agreement. Compensation and other terms and conditions of employment are subject to the provisions of that agreement. Please note, pay rates and compensation programs may be modified in the future based on business needs, policy updates, or union negotiations, as applicable. At the time of this posting, the compensation for this position is a fixed hourly rate of $21.50 per hour . In addition to the base rate, shift differentials apply as follows: $1.10 per hour for second shift and $1.65 per hour for third shift. In addition, we offer:
