Position Summary:
The Inventory Analyst plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy of inbound shipment data, pricing integrity, and inventory valuation. This position bridges accounting and operations by verifying bill of lading (BOL) and certificate of analysis (COA) details, reconciling quantities received versus shipped, and applying current dairy market pricing to inbound loads. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and an understanding of dairy commodity markets and logistics documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze Bills of Lading (BOLs), Certificates of Analysis (COAs), and related inbound shipment documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Verify quantities received at third-party warehouses or company facilities against purchase orders and shipment records.
- Price inbound loads weekly using market-based dairy pricing indices (e.g., USDA, CME) in accordance with contract terms.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of inbound costs, variances, and inventory valuation adjustments.
- Coordinate with Procurement, Operations, and Accounting teams to ensure correct pricing, classification, and cost allocation.
- Investigate discrepancies in weights, quantities, or product quality between BOL, COA, and received goods documentation.
- Prepare and reconcile weekly and monthly inbound inventory reports.
- Support general ledger reconciliations for Inventory, COGS, and Freight Accounts.
- Assist with audit requests, process improvements, and standardization of inbound shipment accounting workflows.
- Track and report dairy market trends and their financial impact on inbound product costs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain, or related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in accounting, inventory control, or logistics (food or dairy industry experience preferred).
- Strong understanding of logistics documentation (BOL, COA, receivers, etc.) and market-based cost accounting.
- Proficiency with Excel, ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar), and data analysis tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with dairy pricing formulas and USDA/CME market reporting.
- Knowledge of freight and storage cost allocation.
- Familiarity with SAP ByDesign or similar ERP environment.
