Role Overview

• Title: Maintenance Technician
• Location: Pennsauken, NJ (on-site)
• Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
• Union: Yes — pay and levels are predetermined by union agreement
• Openings: 1 to 2 immediate; rolling need through summer

Shift Differential: 2nd Shift +$0.25/hr | 3rd Shift +$0.50/hr

Primary Shift: 3rd Shift, 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM, Monday night through Saturday morning

Alternate Shift: 2nd Shift, 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM — assignment determined by union bid process Days Off: Typically Sunday plus one additional day per week

Why This Role Exists

This facility runs 24 hours a day, and the maintenance team is the backbone that keeps production moving. With summer demand ramping up and the beverage industry at peak volume, the company is adding to its maintenance team to ensure the line stays running. The hiring manager operates with a training-oriented mindset — he understands that finding someone with the exact right industry background is difficult and is willing to invest in candidates who bring strong independent mechanic experience and the right attitude.

What You'll Do

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production-line equipment in a high-volume 24-hour beverage manufacturing facility
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical issues independently — not as a helper, but as the person who owns the fix
• Respond to breakdowns and equipment malfunctions, prioritizing rapid resolution to minimize production downtime
• Execute scheduled preventive maintenance tasks on conveyors, fillers, labelers, and other production equipment
• Work alongside production teams to identify recurring issues and implement lasting mechanical solutions
• Complete maintenance logs, work orders, and documentation accurately and on time
• Participate in overtime and mandatory extended shifts (up to 12 hours) during peak summer production season
• Adhere to all safety protocols and plant procedures

Requirements

Must-Haves:

• 3 to 5+ years of independent industrial mechanic experience (not assistant or helper roles)
• Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical systems without close supervision
• Flexibility to work 2nd or 3rd shift — assignment is determined by the union bid process
• Availability Monday through Saturday with overtime as needed during summer peak
• Willingness to complete a Ramsey mechanical assessment as part of the hiring process

Nice-to-Haves:

• Experience in food and beverage, pharmaceutical, or medical device manufacturing
• Black Seal certification (auto-qualifies for Level 4 )
• Blue Seal or Red + Black Seal (auto-qualifies for Level 5 )
• Experience with production line equipment (fillers, conveyors, labelers)
• Familiarity with pneumatic and hydraulic systems
• Experience in a 24-hour or high-volume manufacturing environment

Compensation and Benefits

• Shift Differential: 2nd Shift +$0.25/hr | 3rd Shift +$0.50/hr
• Overtime: 1.5x over 8 hours/day; 1.5x on Saturdays; 2x on Sundays
• Profit Sharing: 6.5% annual
• 401(k): 2.5% company match
• Medical, Dental, Vision: Yes (union plan)
• Schedule: Primarily 3rd Shift, Monday through Saturday
• Work Model: On-Site, Pennsauken, NJ
