Position Summary

Medscape seeks an Executive Director to lead editorial strategy for omnichannel content innovation, with a primary focus on engaging healthcare professionals (HCPs). This position partners tightly with our marketing innovation team to explore and grow our methods of defining, attracting and engaging audiences across our channels and platforms. The Executive Director will partner with other content and marketing leaders, plus product to help operationalize winning concepts.

The Executive Director will have strong innovation, content strategy and content creation experience, plus a keen sense of observation to help spot audience trends as they develop. This role requires leveraging data analytics, AI, social listening and other technologies.

The ideal candidate has strong leadership abilities, excellent communication and organizational skills, and an understanding of medicine and science. This position understands how to drive to business goals. The Executive Director will also be adept at managing multiple projects and changing priorities and working within a matrixed organization.

This role can be field based or if local onsite in Atlanta, Newark or Los Angeles and reports to the Group Vice President, Content.

Key role responsibilities:

• Lead the strategy for editorial innovation and evolution across our platforms and channels

• Develop test content working with content and design creators

• Model and project potential audience engagement for content.

• Work with marketing innovation to test concepts

• Work across content, product and marketing groups to identify additional content innovation opportunities

• Work across groups to help develop plans to operationalize successful ideas

• Forecast and manage budget

• Ensure that winning concepts fit tightly with business goals and other product and content supporting them -- ensure that the content universe works together without siloed pieces.

• Manage people and teams across a matrixed organization

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Design or a related field or equivalent years of expereince.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in innovative digital content ideation and development.

• Minimum 5 years of management experience across people and programs.

• Strong storytelling skills and creative thinking about how to engage audiences

• Understanding of how to use AI to help drive optimal creation.

• Experience with a variety of content types: text, imagery, multimedia, interactive and channel-drive types (e.g., social)

• Excellent organizational and project management skills.

• Deep knowledge of health and medical topics and/or with professional/tailored audiences; ideally with some familiarity with healthcare professional needs
