Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Program Coordinator (BHRS) within the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. Under the direction of the Biospecimen Repository and Histopathology Service (BRHS) Shared Resource (SR) leadership and Assistant Director for Shared Resources, provides administrative oversight of the BRHS SR infrastructure, accounting of internal and external work and collaborations. In addition, management of the CAP Certification requirements and bio-specimen distribution process to cancer center investigators as well as industry clients. Among the key duties for this position are the following:
  • Works closely with the Program Managers to coordinate the entry of services into the BRHS SR scheduling and accounting software program (iLab), with particular focus to work performed for industry-funded and investigator-initiated trials.
  • Administratively oversees biospecimen distribution to Rutgers Investigators and and/or research collaborations with external institutions/corporations. Working closely with SR
  • Management, supports budgeting and the execution of material transfer agreements originating in the BRHS SR. Responsible for CAP accreditation oversight including the management of SOP final versions, procedure manuals and binders.
  • Plans, conducts, and documents regular staff meetings to review workflows, SOPS and new business.
  • Schedules and ensures the documentation of self-inspections and specimen audits. Checks and keeps track of postal mail for the Shared Resource.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Care, Business or Public Administration, or a related field required (Master's degree preferred), plus a minimum of three (3) years of professional experience involving administrative organization, planning and development and the recommendation of improved methods, preferably in an educational institution.
  • Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirement.
Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to understand disparate software systems (iLab, EPIC, Oncore) following training is required. Superior organizational skills with the ability to manage numerous projects and people simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Outstanding human relations skills, and the ability to function in a team environment are required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with accounting and good computing and record keeping is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of how to accomplish superior performance in a unionized environment is preferred.
