The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.
Job Overview:
The Patient Accounts Representative position supports the reduction of Accounts Receivables. The Representative may also perform a variety of duties including assisting patients directly with their bill or other financial aspects of their care, correspondence response, billing and re-billing, certain denial issues, prompt handling of A/R credits and trend monitoring.
Qualifications:
Required:
- HS diploma or GED equivalent
- Strong knowledge of Patient Accounting systems
- Physician Billing experience
- Must meet requirements of the ADA
- Must be able to work in a team environment that requires quick turnaround and quality output.
- Must have 1-2 years of medical collections follow-up and knowledge of healthcare insurance billing.
Preferred:
- Preferred experience in one or more of the following practices (Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Radiology or Urology)
- Preferred billing certifications
- 2+ years of Medical Collections follow-ups is preferred.
- Preferred coding knowledge
Scheduling Requirements:
- Full-Time, Day, Hourly – 37.5 hours a week
- Remote - must reside in NJ, NY, or PA
Essential Functions:
- Able to identify some levels of coding claim discrepancies on denied claims. Able to identify when to forward coding issues to the coding area or dispute
- Proven experience in insurance verification regarding related claim denials and or under payments
- Preparing, reviewing, and submitting claims when needed
- Researching and appealing denied claims per policies
- Ability to multi-task, efficient, while providing high standards of customer service.
- Provide account and billing information to patients, explain to patients the reason for their balance.
- Strong understanding of medical billing processes and coding systems (ICD-9, ICD-10).
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective patient and insurance interaction.
- ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
