Location: New York, NY
Type: Contract
Shift & Schedule: Day Shift | Monday–Friday | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM | 37.5 Hours/Week
Pay Rate: $23.00 – $25.00 per hour
Position Overview:
We are seeking a Hospital Care Investigator to support Patient Financial Services by managing claims processing, billing operations, payment posting, and revenue cycle activities while ensuring accurate patient account management.
Responsibilities
Review, prepare, and submit paper and electronic claims while resolving claim edits, rejections, and denials.
Process pre-authorizations, post payments, apply account adjustments, and maintain accurate patient account records.
Audit patient accounts, generate patient and insurance aging reports, and follow up on outstanding balances.
Provide billing customer service, arrange patient payment plans, and document all account activity accurately.
Collaborate with internal departments and perform additional revenue cycle and billing functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; OR High School diploma (or equivalent) with four years of experience in interviewing, investigations, credit and collections, bookkeeping, or a related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proficiency in paper and electronic claims processing.
Experience using computerized billing and patient accounting systems.
Experience documenting patient information accurately and maintaining billing records.
Knowledge of billing account management, payment posting, claim follow-up, and revenue cycle processes.
Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
