Aerotek is hiring TIG Welders in Newark, DE. We welcome both experienced welders and entry-level candidates looking to start their careers.
Job Description
This role focuses on performing high-quality welding work in a production environment, using a variety of welding processes and equipment. You will work with different metals, interpret technical drawings, and contribute to the fabrication of components by applying your knowledge of welding techniques and material characteristics.
Responsibilities
- Study schematics, diagrams, and blueprints to determine material layout and develop clear, efficient welding plans.
- Perform TIG welding on aluminum and stainless steel with a high level of accuracy and consistency.
- Operate and learn to utilize a variety of welding machines, including TIG, MIG, and flux core equipment, as required by production needs.
- Apply knowledge of the strength and welding characteristics of different metals to select appropriate techniques and settings.
- Recognize and understand the mechanical functions of moving parts and apply this knowledge to welding projects to ensure proper fit and performance.
- Remove slag, rough spots, and imperfections by operating portable grinders or scrapers to achieve smooth, finished work surfaces.
- Follow established safety procedures and best practices while working with welding equipment and in a manufacturing environment.
- Collaborate with team members across departments to meet production goals and maintain high quality standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored and cared for.
- Inspect completed welds for quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications, making adjustments as needed.
Essential Skills
- Successful completion of an accredited welding program recognized by the American Welding Society (AWS).
- Ideally, 1–2 years of welding experience or graduation from a technical school with a focus in welding.
- Proficiency in TIG welding, particularly on aluminum and stainless steel.
- Experience with MIG welding and flux core welding in a production environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and schematics accurately.
- Strong understanding of welding tools, equipment, and their proper use.
- Knowledge of the strength and welding characteristics of different types of metals.
- Ability to recognize mechanical functions of moving parts and apply this understanding to welding tasks.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds.
- Capability to use grinders, scrapers, and other finishing tools to prepare and refine work surfaces.

- Production welding experience in a warehouse or manufacturing setting.

Work Environment
The role is based in a large warehouse and manufacturing facility divided into four departments, offering exposure to a variety of projects and operations. The environment can be cold in the winter and hot in the summer, reflecting a typical industrial setting. Workers on the floor are friendly and collaborative, and employees frequently support one another across departments to meet shared goals. You will work a daytime shift from 7 Monday through Friday, using welding machines, grinders, and other production tools in a hands-on, active work environment.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newark, DE.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $29.00/hr.
