Your role in our success:
This position will be a key member of the Chesapeake Analytics and AI team. This role creates both enterprise and product/project level data architecture artifacts. Working within the organization with Data & Analytics, Technology and other stakeholders, the Data Architect facilitates the creation and evaluation of data models, data governance data strategy through the review of requirements and use cases to recommend both strategic and execution level artifacts with the standard methodologies for development. The architect will be responsible for design and delivery of solutions to integrate data from line of business applications into data warehouses and marts and the presentation of this data to end users using data visualization software. You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of traditional and cloud-based architecture approaches, with strong programming skills including SQL.
What You'll be Working on:
- Lead the architecture and design of cloud-based data architecture using Azure data platform solutions.
- Determine architecture solutions that meet performance, scalability, reliability and security needs.
- Lead multiple, large, highly complex efforts simultaneously, making key architecture and technology decisions.
- Support conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling efforts for strategic initiatives.
- Design and develop data warehouse database schemas, extract, transform, and load (ETL) mappings, procedures, and schedules.
- Coordinates activities with data source application owners to ensure integration and data integrity.
- Lead the build, test, and execution of data migration processes from legacy applications to SAP. Coordinate extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) activities from legacy systems to SAP.
- Assess data quality and recommend cleansing actions; oversee manual and automated cleansing tasks.
- Work closely with functional leads, business SMEs, and technical teams for source-to-target mapping. Partner with system owners to identify conversion sources and manage access to production-like environments.
- Design and develop reports dashboards, KPIs, and data extracts.
- Provide proactive technical oversight and mentorship to architecture and development teams fostering re-use, design for scale, stability, and operational efficiency based on strategic business initiatives.
- Research and evaluate emerging data management technologies for applicability and adoption.
- Build prototypes of learning solutions to show proof-of-concepts and develop scalable integrated enterprise services.
- Design, develop, implement, test intelligent application solutions in a Paas environment.
- Work with technical leadership to drive innovation and create best practices within the team.
- Present technical ideas and high-level concepts and solutions to internal and external team members.
- Collaborate and contribute to the company’s data mining architectures, modeling standards, reporting and data analysis methodologies.
- Contribute to a positive culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence by identifying and implementing process improvements where appropriate.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand the business problem, gather business requirements, supporting data and with/without guidance of leadership, help stakeholders/partners understand the business and scientific principles behind the process in order to gain their buy-in.
- Train/coach team members or peers and actively share expertise with peers
Who you are:
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Seventeen (17) years’ relevant work experience with at least three (3) years leading teams and/or projects.
- Preferred Experience in the following:
- Architecting a Medallion Architecture
- Data & SAP Integration
- Utility industry data or similar complex environment
- Defining or building Event-Driven microservices architecture
- Agile Methodology and/or Scrum
- ArchiMate Modeling
- Gen AI, Agentic AI, machine learning
- TOGAF certification
- Regular driver's license
