We are seeking a New Student Orientation Coach who will report to the New Student Experience Coordinator. This person will be responsible for coordinating the daily operations of the New Student Orientation as well as planning and implementing new student engagement activities.
This is a part time, hourly position.
Example of Duties:
- Implement in-person New Student Orientation event(s).
- Manage new student participation in the New Student Orientation Program(s).
- Develop and implement New Student Engagement Initiatives focused on new student retention.
- Develop engaging activities that introduce new students to academic resources, student support services and campus life.
- Lead campus tours, highlighting key buildings, services, and student spaces.
- Attend training sessions to stay updated on orientation programming and student resources.
- Use social media, student portals, and other virtual platforms to connect with new students.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Associates required/Bachelor’s preferred in education, counseling, business or related disciplines.
- Previous experience in student activities, new student orientation, leadership program.
- Sensitivity to the needs of the student population of an urban community college.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally, in writing and interpersonally.
- Computer literate, proficient in the use of on-line and social media communication.
- Must be able to work one evening per week and occasionally Saturdays.
- Valid New Jersey Driver’s License.
The completion of a background check will be required for the selected candidate.
Compensation: Compensation is determined by a variety of criteria, including but not limited to, previous relevant experience, education level, and certifications. The minimum hourly pay for this position is $20.
