Data Quality Analyst
Location Designation: Hybrid - 3 days per month

Role Summary
New York Life is seeking an enthusiastic and outcomes-oriented Data Quality Analyst to develop and implement activities that apply data quality management principles, methods and techniques in order to ensure data are fit to serve specific operational and analytical business needs in a particular context.
Responsibilities include providing expert-level application of data quality management capabilities including profiling, promoting data/information goals aligned with business priorities, implementation of operational data quality measures/KPI's and dashboards, and data defect identification, prioritization, and remediation. The role requires an assessment of levels of data/information quality in the context of business needs, reporting on business impacts, determining root causes of data defects, and making recomendations on both tactical and strategic changes to prevent future negative impacts amd enable positive business outcomes.
Success in the role will be measured by the degree to which foundational data quality managament capabilities are employed to support the objectives of New York Life business priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform as a member of a team within the Chief Data Officer orgaization, with a concentration on the evolution and implementation of Data Quality Management (DQM) methods and tools
- Take direction as part of a team from a Senior Data Quality Analyst to achieve DQM objectives
- Understand business requirements that relate the dependence on data quality to desired business outcomes
- Design, configure and develop simple to complex measures/rules aligned to business priorities and outcomes
- Be the expert in the application of automated tools (e.g., Informatica Data Quality) to measure and report data quality measures
- Perform root cause analysis of data defects and make recommendations on improvements to business processes, controls and technology to achieve data quality goals
- Provide technical support for a network of Business Data Owners and Data Stewards on DQM throughout all lines of business and geographies
- Assist in the establishment of Communities of Practice, virtual organizations that meet regularly to share ideas and best practices and promote a culture where data is managed as an asset of the company
- Maintain and promote key data governance/DQM deliverables/assets, including data policies, data standards and data management roles and decision frameworks. Interact with business and technical peers in the evaluation of emerging industry trends and technologies relevant to data management and DQM
Education / Training
Required:
- Bachelor's degree; equivalent work experience accepted
Previous Experience
- 1-2 yrelevant experience in roles involving business analysis, technology development or data management
Required Skills / Knowledge
- Demonstrated proficiency to analyze and understand business requirements, solve problems, and develop code
- Demonstrated understanding of data management methodologies and technologies with an emphasis on data quality profiling, data quality rules coding, data catalogs, metadata management, and master/reference data management
- Ability to perform basic project management functions such as project plan development and resource / time estimation of tasks
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate, communicate, build relationships, and engage and influence data and technical professionals across lines of business and functional areas
- Strong written, verbal and communication skills with the demonstrated ability to work with all levels within the organization
- Ability to tell a story through presentations, to motivate and influence adoption of new ideas and capabilities
- Strong understanding of IT methodologies, functions and services
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple simultaneous priorities
- Demonstrated ability to think end-to-end, connect moving parts, and anticipate and manage change impacts
- Ability to define and leverage metrics to drive performance and outcomes
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience with BI/visualization tools like Tableau is desirable
- Awareness of relevant and emerging financial services / insurance data standards is desirable
Salary range: $58,500-$85,000
Overtime eligible: Exempt
