Pay: $18$21 per hour (based on experience)

Bar Mutz, led by Chef Robbie Felice and recognized as one of New Jerseys Top 30 Restaurants, is currently hiring Line Cooks to join our growing culinary team in Westwood, NJ.

Job Summary

The Line Cook is responsible for preparing and executing high-quality dishes according to Osteria Crescendos recipes and standards. This role requires efficiency, attention to detail, and strong teamwork to ensure smooth, successful service while maintaining exceptional food quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

Food Preparation & Execution

• Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes, portioning, and presentation standards
• Maintain prep levels to meet service demands while minimizing waste
• Ensure dishes are served hot, fresh, and consistent in quality
• Execute daily service and specials under the direction of the Executive Chef, Sous Chef, or Kitchen Manager

Kitchen Operations & Teamwork

• Set up and stock stations before service
• Work collaboratively with the culinary team to maintain an efficient service flow
• Keep stations clean, organized, and service-ready throughout the shift
• Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating inventory following FIFO procedures
• Anticipate prep and station needs to maximize productivity and quality

Quality & Safety Standards

• Uphold all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations
• Monitor food quality, freshness, and presentation before plates leave the kitchen
• Properly label, store, and rotate all products
• Report equipment issues or safety concerns promptly

Growth & Development

• Learn and master new techniques, recipes, and stations
• Assist in training new line cooks and prep cooks
• Contribute ideas for specials and menu improvements
• Clear advancement opportunities within the kitchen

Qualifications

• Previous restaurant cooking experience preferred
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Strong communication skills and team-oriented mindset
• Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation
• Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and plating standards precisely

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout shifts
• Lift up to 50 lbs regularly
• Comfortable working in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment
