T&M Associates is seeking an experienced Inspector to serve as Resident Engineer on Municipal, County and Agency infrastructure projects throughout New Jersey. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead high-impact projects, including roadways, bridges, water and sewer systems, and municipal facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the inspection and quality assurance of complex transportation and infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with project plans, specifications, safety standards, and permit requirements.
- Supervise and mentor a team of inspectors while coordinating daily construction observation activities, including field testing, commissioning, and schedule verification.
- Serve as the primary liaison between clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders, fostering strong communication and resolving project-related issues efficiently.
- Perform Resident Engineer and Project Manager-level duties, including oversight of construction schedules, staffing reports, payroll certifications, and labor documentation.
- Review and coordinate contractor submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and maintain detailed inspection records and reports.
- Ensure contractor compliance with safety plans, environmental permits, and all applicable regulations while minimizing public disruptions and coordinating with adjacent projects.
- Support budget and schedule management by identifying and solving complex field challenges in collaboration with the project team (Owner, T&M, and Contractors).
- Utilize spreadsheets, scheduling tools, and project management software for effective reporting, documentation, and tracking project progress.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction inspection or a related field, with significant experience on County and Agency projects, including NJDOT, NJTA, NJT, etc.
- Required certifications include: NICET Level III or IV in Highway Construction or equivalent, NJSAT, ACI and TCC certification. Ability to obtain any required certifications within 6 months is acceptable.
- Bridge construction inspection experience (rehab & new) a plus
- Knowledge of NJDOT and NJTA standards, procedures and software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
T&M Associates is committed to pay transparency and equitable compensation practices in compliance with applicable laws, including the New Jersey Equal Pay Act. T&M estimates that the salary range for this position will fall between $91,000-$118,000 The actual salary offered may vary within this range, depending on a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, educational qualifications, specific skills and knowledge, as well as internal pay equity and geographic location.
