About the Role:
As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist working as an Independent Contractor, you will play a critical role in the diagnostic imaging process by preparing and administering radioactive drugs to patients and operating sophisticated imaging equipment. Your expertise will enable physicians to accurately diagnose and treat various medical conditions through high-quality nuclear imaging studies. You will be responsible for ensuring patient safety and comfort while adhering to strict regulatory standards and radiation safety protocols. This role requires a high degree of technical proficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in diverse clinical settings across the United States. Ultimately, your work will contribute significantly to patient care by providing essential diagnostic information that guides effective treatment plans.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
- Current certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) or equivalent credential.
- Valid state licensure or certification as required by the state of practice.
- Demonstrated knowledge of radiation safety and handling of radioactive materials.
- Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and nuclear medicine imaging techniques.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Certification in PET imaging or other advanced nuclear medicine modalities.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and digital imaging software.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in various healthcare environments.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients following established protocols and safety guidelines.
- Operate gamma cameras, PET scanners, and other nuclear medicine imaging equipment to capture diagnostic images.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions during and after radiopharmaceutical administration and provide appropriate care.
- Maintain accurate records of procedures, dosages, and patient information in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with physicians, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal imaging quality and diagnostic accuracy.
- Perform routine quality control and maintenance of nuclear medicine equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
- Adhere to radiation safety standards to protect patients, staff, and self from unnecessary exposure.
- Educate patients about the procedures, addressing any concerns and ensuring informed consent.

The required skills enable the technologist to safely prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals while operating complex imaging equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images. Strong communication skills are essential for educating patients and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure accurate and efficient procedures.
