Dispatcher (WEST ORANGE)
Transdev in Maplewood,155 Prospect Ave NJ is hiring an in-person Dispatcher to join our Essex County team. The Dispatcher oversees road service through communication with Operators and provides customer support to the clients. We are seeking customer service-oriented professionals who are dedicated to safety.

Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee road service assigned by tracking trip performance measures, route begin on time, performance, incidents, etc.
- Provide customer support by responding to questions and concerns regarding customer trips including no shows, cancellations and missed trips.
- Manage emergency situations for vehicle operators, act as liaison between the operators and emergency services.
- Manage daily service by reviewing route performance and proactively responding to situations that impact customer service.
- Managing run pullouts and openings and closing runs in designated Dispatch & Scheduling
- Recording late pullouts, uncovered driver callouts, and closed routes
- Proactively managing runs to maintain service performance standards
- Reassigning trips between runs in a timely way, as needed
- Responding to driver requests for assistance
- Managing incidents and accidents in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED; Technical Degree preferred.
- 3-5 years' experience dispatching and prior experience as a driver for paratransit
operations may be beneficial.
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Problem solving and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of traffic patterns and their Impact on paratransit operations, preferred
- Excellent communication skills in person, over the phone, and on a two-way
communication device
- Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office and paratransit scheduling software (and preferably Spare) and the ability to learn new software
- Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
- Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
Physical Requirements:
The essential functions of this position require the ability to:
- Must be able to work flexible schedules as needed.
- Majority of work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well-ventilated facilities
- Majority of work is accomplished in an office or in a cubicle space equipped with a telephone and computer.
- The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
