About Us:Flourish Nature School is a growing nature-based preschool for curious 2.5-5 year olds located on the property of Johnsonburg Camp and Retreat Center. We aim to spend the majority of our school day outdoors — exploring, playing, discovering, and learning about the world around us. We believe children learn best through hands-on experiences, connection, and wonder, and we work hard to create a warm, safe, and joyful space where every child feels seen and valued.

About the Role:We’re looking for a caring, reliable, and energetic Lead Teacher to join our team. This role is perfect for someone who loves working with young children, thrives outdoors in all seasons, and enjoys getting hands-on with play, art, and exploration. You’ll be leading a group of up to 14 children, maintaining our 1:7 ratio with an assistant teacher, and helping create a nurturing, engaging environment.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead the 9-1pm classes – welcome families, lessons, classroom management, time management, play, outdoor time, records, departure.
• Lead daily routines, including meals, bathroom breaks, and transitions.
• Keep children safe, engaged, and supported, whether we’re indoors or out.
• Assist in maintaining a clean and organized indoor and outdoor classroom environment.
• Follow the curriculum and our daily rhythm, but also use your own knowledge, creativity and ideas in creating learning experiences.
• Model kindness, patience, and respect in all interactions.
• Communicate positively with children, families, and staff members.
• Maintain a supportive and positive relationship with your assistant teacher(s), substitute teachers and director of school.

We’d Love to Hear from You If You:

• Have an early childhood or elementary degree – experience with preschool aged strongly preferred.
• Are confident in behavior/classroom management skills, managing children in both indoors and outdoor camp environments.
• Are dependable, flexible, quick-thinking and creative.
• Enjoy being outside in all kinds of weather — yes, even rainy and snowy days!
• Have a warm and playful spirit, but can also set clear boundaries firmly.
• Open to collaboration and feedback from our director, willing to try new things.
• Are CPR certified, or willing.
• Are comfortable with the physical aspects of the job (lifting up to 50 lbs, being on your feet, getting down on your knees, moving around with the kids, hiking on our trails).
