Overview
The Long-Haul Dispatcher is responsible for the coordination and management of the pickup and delivery of trash, recycling, mulch and other materials in a cost effective and client centric manner. Critical tasks include overseeing the proper recording of all regulatory and accounting documentation. This role is required to work in cohesion with the Customer Service Representatives, Salespeople, and Shop manager. The dispatcher supervises all commercial Tractor Trailer vehicle drivers. This role reports the Director of Long-Haul Transportation.
Essential Functions
• Oversee the scanning, completion, and verify mulch deliveries, flatbed work, and triaxle work.
• Maintain accurate records of dispatch logs and delivery confirmations.
• Promote and maintain a safe and professional workplace environment.
• Responsible for the coordination and management of the pickup and delivery of materials, which includes dispatching of all trucks to meet client's expectations and the schedules of municipalities.
• Obtaining permits when required to do so for the delivery of equipment.
• Responsible for reporting damages into the safety portal as well as informing the Salespeople, customer service, customer contact and Facility's Manager for repair as required.
• Responsible for reporting any repairs and maintenance issues with equipment to the Shop manager. Ensure repairs are made timely.
• The proper documentation all of O&D forms, manifests or other regulatory paperwork, including trailer
• numbers on work orders.
• The routing of trucks in the most economical way possible. Provide each driver with multiple work orders if possible and direct drivers in most effective manner.
• Responsible for managing the drivers, ensuring daily on time shift coverage, managing work schedule days off, and coordinating and reporting all driver-related issues to the Director.
• Responsible for keeping clear and concise communication with the customer service team regarding inventory and scheduling concerns.
• Dispatcher reports all customer complaints to salespeople and/or customer service team.
• Check email continuously.
• Communicates discrepancies and issues, while sharing possible process and procedural improvements with Leadership on a regular basis as needed.
Qualifications
• 10+ years’ experience in transportation dispatching or logistics preferred.
• Strong knowledge of FMCSA and DOT regulations.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and dispatching software.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of Walking floor trailers, flatbed trailers, triaxle hauling is a plus.
Work Environment
• Based at the Mazza Mulch Office in Tinton Falls, NJ.
• Office-based coordination with field communication.
• Seasonal flexibility required. 12-hour days will be required in peak seasons.
