Assistant Teacher (Floater)

Assistant Teacher / Floater – Immediate Opening – $16–$19/hr

Tiny Steps Learning Center – Paterson, NJ

Pay: $16–$19 per hour, based on experience, education, CDA, credentials, and performance

Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday. Must be available for shifts that may end as late as 5:30 PM.

Tiny Steps Learning Center is hiring a dependable, caring, and flexible Floater Assistant Teacher to support our classrooms throughout the day.

This position is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with young children, can move between classrooms as needed, and is comfortable assisting teachers with daily routines, supervision, classroom activities, and child care needs.

We are looking for someone reliable, patient, professional, and willing to support infants, toddlers, preschool, or Pre-K classrooms depending on the center’s daily needs.

Responsibilities:

• Assist Lead Teachers with age-appropriate classroom activities and daily routines.
• Support a warm, safe, clean, and engaging classroom environment.
• Supervise children and help ensure their safety and well-being at all times.
• Assist with snack time, nap time, diapering, toileting, handwashing, transitions, and classroom cleanup as needed.
• Help maintain classroom organization and cleanliness.
• Build positive relationships with children, families, and staff.
• Follow teacher direction and support classroom structure.
• Communicate professionally with children, parents, and team members.
• Follow center policies, state licensing regulations, and health and safety requirements.
• Float between classrooms as needed to support staffing, breaks, transitions, and daily operations.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Prior experience working with children in a daycare, preschool, school, or childcare setting preferred.
• Reliable full-time availability, Monday through Friday.
• Ability to work with different age groups and adapt to different classroom needs.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
• Must be willing to complete required background checks and pre-employment clearances.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred, or willingness to obtain upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

• CDA certification or early childhood education coursework.
• Experience in a licensed childcare center.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
