The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.
Job Overview:
Assists in the daily operation of the department by performing secretarial, receptionist, registration, financial, ordering and general clerical duties.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School diploma required
- Good organizational and communication skills required
- Computer skills required
Preferred:
- Three to five years office experience preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology a plus but not essential
Scheduling Requirements:
- Shift-8:30am-4:30pm
- Monday-Friday
- Full Time-Day
Essential Functions:
- Schedule patient s appointments for department
- Interview patient , family members and other responsible parties to gather pertinent demographic and financial information for scheduling, preregistration and/or registration
- Obtain and accurately document all demographic information in EPIC
- Verify accuracy of information in EPIC included but not limited to: insurance information, demographics, preferred language, contact information, etc…
- Obtain and scan insurance cards and pharmacy benefit cards into EPIC Complete Medicare Questionnaire on all eligible patients
- Inform patient of financial responsibility and collect appropriate copayment at time of registration
- Provides patients with all regulatory documents, obtain required signatures and witnesses all patient s signatures
- Answer main department phone calls and/or emails and triage appropriately
- Manage department UBER rides for all patient appointments in hemophilia
- Retrieve medical records for new patients
- Ensure source documents are legible, if not, contact sender for updated copies that are legible
- Ensure and maintain adequate levels of office supplies and equipment
- Fax signed prescription orders to patients home care company and scan to Epic
- Fax and scan other documents as requested
- Obtains insurance referrals for patient visits and laboratory testing as required
- Responsible for forwarding all patient recorders requests to Health Information Management
- Refer patients with insurance issues or concerns to financial coordinator
