Key Responsibilities:
Creating Outstanding Patient Experiences

• Interpret and fill eyeglass/contact lens prescriptions written by doctors

• Expertly advise patients on frame styles, lens types, materials, coatings, and benefits tailored to their needs, lifestyle, and insurance coverage

• Measure and fit eyewear for optimal comfort and performance

• Perform precise adjustments and minor repairs on eyeglasses

• Order and verify the accuracy of lenses and optical products

• Educate patients regarding lens options and vision care best practices

• Handle insurance verification and accurately explain vision benefits

• File insurance claims promptly and accurately

• Assist with product and service pricing to ensure transparency and profitability

• Provide attentive, compassionate service, addressing patient concerns with professionalism

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of optical products and compliance with industry standards

Supporting Practice Operations

• Maintain accurate inventory of frames, lenses, and optical supplies

• Process and maintain sales records compliantly with HIPAA and practice policies

• Participate in practice meetings and actively communicate with doctors and staff for coordinated care

• Share knowledge to help train and grow the practice team

• Represent practice values in all professional interactions—internally and with the public

• Contribute ideas for business development, patient engagement, and operational enhancement

• Proactively identify workflow bottlenecks and help implement solutions to provide for efficient, high-quality operations

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Current New Jersey State Optician License (required)

• Training in optical dispensing and/or fitting contact lenses

• Excellent attention to detail for interpreting prescriptions and precise measurements

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

• Ability to explain technical information clearly to patients

• Sales-focused mindset, able to recommend solutions and products in patients’ best interests

• Team player with positive, pro-active attitude

• Experience with vision insurance plans and benefit coordination preferred

• Proficient in adjusting, repairing, and fitting optical frames

• Commitment to ongoing professional education and maintaining CE requirements

• Must comply with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations

Schedule & Benefits

• Competitive hourly wage: $29–$34 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
