OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST ASSISTANT

Job location: Fairfield, NJ

Positions: Full-time & Part-time

Overview

We are looking for a dedicated Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) to provide in-home patient care under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. You'll assist in delivering personalized therapy, documenting progress, and supporting patients in achieving greater independence in their daily lives.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial and ongoing assessments of patients' functional needs and home environment.

• Develop, implement, and update individualized occupational therapy care plans in collaboration with physicians and the care team.

• Provide therapeutic activities and self-care training to improve patient independence and functioning.

• Instruct patients and families on the safe use of adaptive equipment, prosthetics, and orthotics.

• Educate and counsel patients and caregivers on the overall therapy program.

• Document patient progress and communicate regularly with physicians and team members.

• Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants and Home Health Aides as required.

• Participate in care coordination, discharge planning, and professional development.

Job Requirements

• Active license and ability to travel to patient homes.

• Physical ability to perform assessments and assist with patient mobility (up to 250 lbs).

• Strong communication skills in English.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program (approved by the AOTA/AMA).

• Current state Occupational Therapy license required.

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in an institutional or home health setting.

• Active CPR certification.

• Ability to pass a criminal background check.

• Membership in the American Occupational Therapy Association (preferred).
