The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Under the supervision of the Manager, the Operating Room Orderly assists the professional nursing staff by performing routine duties pertinent to the overall functioning of the unit, in particular the safe transport of patients.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association

Preferred:

• GED or High School Diploma
• At least one (1) year experience as an Orderly or Transporter with healthcare background.

Scheduling Requirements

• Status: Per Diem (Flexible, based on the need of the department.)
• Shift: Day

Essential Functions:

• Always demonstrates an awareness and understanding of patient’s needs for comfort and safety; follows through accurately to provide patients with comfort and safety
• Always reports to the Nurse Manager or RN any changes in status, patient complaints, or other pertinent information regarding the condition of patient
• As required, orders supplies as needs, maintaining a cost-conscious attitude; regularly inventories to ensure supplies are always on hand
• Consistently completed all work assignments by the end of the shift
• Demonstrates knowledge of body mechanics and patient safety in transporting patients from bed to stretcher, and assisting in transferring from stretcher to OR table
• Properly orients new personnel when requested
• Regularly assists in maintaining a healthy, clean and safe environment for the patients and staff
• Takes OR schedule for printing and distributes to various departments throughout the institution
