About This Role
The Teacher Assistant plays a pivotal role in a cohesive teaching team, spearheading curriculum coordination and managing daily classroom operations to create a nurturing environment where children thrive. Effective teachers must possess a deep understanding of children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development to ensure a safe, engaging, and stimulating classroom environment. To excel in this role, teachers must be skilled communicators, able to effectively interact with both children and adults to meet children's needs and address parental concerns in collaboration with the Director.
What You'll DoKey Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards, ensuring a dynamic and inclusive classroom environment.
- Maintain open communication with parents, fostering a strong partnership to support children's growth and development.
- Ensure compliance with center policies and state regulations, upholding the highest standards of care and safety.
- Conduct regular checks to maintain a clean, safe, and healthy classroom environment, adhering to strict hygiene and cleanliness standards.
- Accurately maintain records, forms, and files, adhering to confidentiality and data protection protocols.
- Develop a personalized professional development plan to stay updated on best practices, ensuring continuous quality improvement.
Requirements:
- Must have passed full background check.
- Must have passed health screening.
- Must have good professional references.
- High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
- Minimum of 2 years consecutively of professional child care experience.
- An understanding of child development.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
- Lead children by example; encourage children to reach developmental milestones by modeling and interaction.
- Plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive and emotional growth.
- Requirements include the ability to sit on the floor, take walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels. Will also be required to kneel, bend, squat or crawl.
Desirable Qualities:
- Proficiency in multiple languages, enhancing the ability to connect with diverse families.
- Working knowledge of Teaching Strategies Gold, a valuable asset in implementing curriculum and assessments.
- CDA certification, a testament to dedication to early childhood education and care.
