Interim Controller

Warren, NJ | Full-Time | Onsite | Interim Opportunity

We are partnering with a growing organization in the Warren, NJ area to identify an experienced Interim Controller to lead the accounting function during a critical transition period. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for an accomplished accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can quickly make an impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll, general ledger, inventory, and fixed assets.
• Oversee the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and review financial statements, account reconciliations, and financial analyses.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal and state tax regulations, and sales & use tax requirements.
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls while supporting external audits.
• Oversee customer credit approvals and 1099 reporting.
• Analyze inventory valuation, aging, and margin performance.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team while identifying opportunities for process improvements.
• Partner with executive leadership to provide financial reporting and strategic business insights.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; CPA strongly preferred .
• 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Experience managing audits and working directly with external CPA firms.
• QuickBooks experience is required.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Proven ability to lead teams, improve processes, and manage multiple priorities.
