Senior Lead Software Engineer - Research, Development and Innovation

As a Senior Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Cloud Foundational Services organization, you will play a critical role in hands-on research, prototyping, and engineering work that supports innovation initiatives. You will be instrumental in developing and testing new technologies and solutions that align with our strategic goals and new product incubation efforts. Your work will directly contribute to making our organization an exciting and dynamic place for technologists and managers alike. You will collaborate closely with senior leaders and peers to bring innovative ideas to life through technical implementation.

Job responsibilities

- Conduct hands-on research to explore new technologies and approaches.
- Develop innovative technical solutions that address the specific needs of Research, Development, and Innovation initiatives.
- Create and refine prototypes and pilot programs to demonstrate the viability and potential of new technologies or approaches.
- Rapidly iterate on designs to improve functionality and performance.
- Design and develop high-quality technology solutions tailored to the specific needs of the incubator or innovation program.
- Leverage expertise in distributed and cloud-native systems to build robust and scalable platforms.
- Document technical specifications, designs, and best practices.
- Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences, ensuring clarity and understanding.
- Work collaboratively with peers, technology leaders, application/platform engineers, and architects.
- Participate in major technical decisions, developing technical proposals that consider alternatives and business cases.
- Apply proven innovation frameworks to guide the development of new technologies and solutions.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Advanced in one or more programming language(s)
  • Advanced knowledge of software applications and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
  • Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight
  • Practical cloud native experience
  • Experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
