Senior Real Estate Accountant

What Work You Will be Responsible For: - Make appropriate journal entries to record mortgage, payroll, utilities, management fees, property insurance and property taxes and other cash transactions
- Perform bank reconciliations (operating, security deposit, escrow accounts)
- Perform monthly financial review, accrual accounting and GL reclasses
- Perform reconciliations of the balance sheet accounts
- Perform in-depth review of the income statement
- Perform actual-to-budget variance analysis
- Perform management fee calculations and processing
- Perform Distribution calculations and processing
- Prepare monthly financial statement package for ownership to include balance sheet, profit & loss statement, statement of cash flows (if applicable), and bank reconciliations
- Prepare quarterly financial reporting to fulfill lender compliance requirements
- Maintain related schedules (property insurance and taxes, compliance, etc.)
- Act as liaison to external auditors by explaining journal entries and financial transactions, provide research data and information as requested, and answer questions necessary to complete the audit in a timely manner.
- Submit wires, ACHs, and internal bank transfers
- Maintain task management and workpapers in Blackline
- Development and uploads of budgets
- Maintain job costing schedules and prepare construction draw packages
- Have technical knowledge of lease accounting
- Maintain CAM and operation escalation schedules
- Maintain task management and workpapers in Blackline
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field
- 3+ years' experience in real estate managing multiple properties entities or 3+ years' in public accounting focused on real estate clients
- Knowledge of Sage Intacct, and/or Yardi
- Master's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field
- Experience working with task management and workpaper system (Blackline, Floqast)
- Experience working with Appfolio and/or Avid Exchange
