Job Overview:

Join our diagnostic team as an Echocardiograph Technician, where you will perform high-quality cardiac imaging to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of adult patients with known or suspected heart anomalies. In this vital clinical role, you will utilize advanced modalities including M-mode, 2-Dimensional, and Color Doppler, while collaborating closely with departments like the Cardiac Cath Lab, Emergency Department, and Surgery. You will serve as a technical expert in the Cardiopulmonary Department, ensuring patient safety and providing critical data to interpreting physicians in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Completion and certification from an AMA-approved program in Cardiovascular Technology, specifically including echocardiography.
• Registered by the ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) or CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International), or currently registry-eligible.
• Must meet the physical requirements of the ADA to manage equipment transport and patient positioning.
• Versatility and willingness to cross-train in additional cardiology procedures, such as EKGs.

Preferred:

• Prior experience performing and assisting with Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) procedures.
• Proficiency in utilizing the SCM system for billing, order entry, and data management.
• Demonstrated ability to recognize and promptly report abnormal clinical manifestations to attending physicians.
• Active participation in ongoing professional development and technical conferences.

• Full-Time (FT).

Essential Functions:

• Perform optimal quality M-mode, 2-D, and Color Flow Doppler Ultrasound studies as ordered by a physician.
• Assist with and facilitate Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) procedures to support comprehensive cardiac evaluations.
• Identify and recognize abnormal clinical manifestations during studies, notifying the interpreting or attending physician of critical observations immediately.
• Explain procedures to patients to allay apprehensions and ensure a positive patient experience during testing.
• Transport imaging equipment to various patient care areas to perform high-quality portable studies as needed.
• Maintain routine maintenance of ultrasound equipment and notify administration of necessary major repairs.
• Perform EKG tracings and other cardiology procedures as required to ensure adequate departmental coverage.
• Utilize hospital computer systems for accurate billing, order entry, and the charging/crediting of patient tests.
• Manage clerical duties, including filing recordings, maintaining statistical logs, and distributing reports to the appropriate medical floors or facilities.
