Job Description
The Sample Lab Compounder on 2nd shift prepares and processes batches of powders and liquids by accurately measuring, mixing, and compounding raw materials in a food, flavor, and fragrance production environment. This role follows detailed batch instructions, adheres to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and supports food safety by documenting work thoroughly and collaborating with a cross-functional team.
Responsibilities
- Retrieve raw ingredients and verify their identity, weight, and contents before use.
- Accurately measure ingredients using scales and other measuring devices according to batch instructions.
- Mix and compound various ingredients, including liquids and powders, using homogenizing and spray dry methods.
- Identify ingredients that require dilution, perform proper dilution, and record all raw material usage.
- Identify and melt solid ingredients using hot plates as needed for batch preparation.
- Follow standard batch instructions to weigh dyes and other substances into the appropriate equipment.
- Conduct in-process batch inspections to verify quality, consistency, and adherence to specifications.
- Check consistency across batches and measure the viscosity of mixtures to ensure uniformity.
- Collect batch samples and deliver them to the laboratory for testing and quality verification.
- Maintain quality standards by documenting all process events, ingredient usage, and inspection results accurately and legibly.
- Follow all procedures, policies, and GMP guidelines to support food safety and product quality.
- Handle and blend raw materials safely, maintaining cleanliness and order in the work area.
- Adhere to safety and sanitation protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Complete all required production and batch-making documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
- Collaborate with team members in a cross-functional environment to meet production goals and resolve issues.
This is a Permanent position based out of Edison, NJ.
