BACKGROUND:
DWK Life Sciences LLC (DWK) was created as a result of the merger of three industry leaders and provides the world’s laboratories and production environments with the most comprehensive range of labware for scientific research and technical applications as well as solutions for storage and packaging. We manufacture a full range of precision glassware and specialty products for life sciences. We also offer products and services (vials, ampules, stoppers, septa, seals, caps, bottles, tubes, flasks, and value added services) to customers seeking packaging solutions.
Company revenue is generated through four primary channels: Global distributors, National distributors, Direct field selling efforts, and Inside sales selling efforts.
DWK supports four primary market segments: Laboratory, Pharmaceutical, Analytical Sciences, and Industrial glass.
POSITION SUMMARY :
The Shift Supervisor oversees all plant operations during the assigned shift, ensuring production goals are met safely, efficiently, and in compliance with quality standards. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role directs and coordinates the workforce, assigns daily tasks, monitors material usage, and resolves operational or personnel issues as they arise. The Supervisor also ensures adherence to safety and environmental guidelines, maintains effective communication with management, and supports employee development through training and performance feedback, fostering a productive and high-performing team environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee all production activities that are scheduled to be run during the off-shifts.
- Oversee the accuracy of raw materials used to produce the jobs
- Ensures production quotas are met.
- Under the Operations Manager’s direction will assign daily work order instructions to the production staff
- Directs and coordinates any preventive maintenance if need be.
- Direct all employee assignments.
- Oversees any scheduled job set ups
- Identify employee training needs and communicate to Dept. Production Managers
- Identify employee behavioral or conduct issues and if need be initiated the appropriate discipline.
- Work with the Quality Inspector in resolving all quality issues. If unable to resolve the problem, then the issue needs to be addressed with the appropriate quality manager.
- Wear personal protective equipment in accordance with safety and training guidelines
- Required to wear proper gowning for specific areas
- Communicates daily with the Operations Manager and Production Managers on activities, issues etc.
- Maintain good housekeeping and EHS requirements
- Perform other related duties as assigned
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- 3-5 years’ experience as a supervisor preferred
- Oral and Written Communication Skills
- Negotiations, reading skills and being able to read a drawing
- Computer skills
- Time Management
