Scheduling Manager
Scheduling Manager KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) provides holistic and value-added solutions across the entire asset life cycle. These include world-class licensed process technologies, differentiated advisory services, deep technical domain expertise, energy transition solutions, high-end design capabilities, and smart solutions to optimize planned and operating assets. KBR is seeking a Manager, Scheduling/Planning responsible for overseeing the performance and outcomes of the Scheduling group within the Project Controls organization. This role involves managing the delivery of functional objectives by providing effective leadership and direction to team members. The primary focus of the Scheduling group is to train and mentor schedulers, developing them into planners capable of creating integrated master schedules for large capital projects across various industries, predominantly within refinery and petrochemical sectors. Other objectives include developing the Scheduling team to support the Project Controls organization with Earned Value Management and Schedule Risk Analysis. The selected candidate will contribute to the development of functional strategy and oversee regional processes and procedures while ensuring alignment with global standards. Judgement will be exercised in interpreting both internal and external matters to establish best practices for the team. Additional responsibilities include allocating resources, setting task priorities, and supporting less experienced team members. The position requires leveraging substantial experience, strong interpersonal skills, and comprehensive knowledge of project controls to guarantee compliance with KBR and client policies, procedures, and business strategy. This position is based in our Newark, DE office , with flexible work arrangements including a hybrid schedule with occasional remote working. Domestic travel to client sites and other KBR offices may be required as needed for project and department support. Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Manage, develop, and mentor a team of skilled, mid-level, and junior schedulers.
- Lead the Scheduling group in the development of project schedules for a portfolio of capital projects.
- Evaluate project schedule progress and proactively recommend corrective actions if needed.
- Ensure compliance with KBR's project controls procedures and client-specific requirements.
- Conduct readiness reviews and quality audits.
- Lead Interactive Planning Sessions during development of proposal or project schedules.
- Ensure coordination between the Scheduling group and other departments, including Procurement, material managers, engineering Work Group Leads, Construction, and Project Management, in the development of project schedules.
- Provide expertise and insight into the impacts to the project of adjusting priorities and tasks during execution.
- Contributes to forecasts and provides insight into Earned Value Management for projects.
- Communicate with internal and external clients to facilitate and ensure schedule task completion.
- Support, identify, and recommend office-level improvement initiatives in scheduling and project controls.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, business administration, or another related field.
- 15+ years scheduling/planning experience on EPCM projects.
- Must be highly proficient in Primavera and MS Project scheduling software.
- Must be highly proficient in scheduling all phases of capital projects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, organization skills, and ability to function within a project team.
- Familiarity with SAP PS, EcoSys, and MS Power BI.
- Experience with quantitative risk analysis, particularly related to Schedule Risk Analysis.
- Familiarity with scheduling industry benchmarks for reviews and high-level analysis of early project schedules.
- Experience in scheduling utilizing advanced work packaging methodologies.
- Knowledge of project cost estimating and cost controls and how schedules impact these functions.
- Understanding of AACE (Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering) recommended practices and their application in project controls.
