Job Title: Phlebotomist
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifuging, and maintaining accurate patient records.
Responsibilities
- Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
 - Explain the venipuncture and specimen collection process clearly and courteously to patients.
 - Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles.
 - Understand and execute all physicians' orders accurately.
 - Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.
 - Ensure requisition forms or computer labels match scripts for accuracy.
 - Package specimens for transport following protocol to maintain specimen integrity.
 - Store specimen samples at required temperatures and label them accurately.
 - Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
 - Attend annual department training sessions.
 - Answer telephone calls and provide laboratory results to inquiries.
 
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of phlebotomy experience.
 - High volume blood draw experience.
 - Proficiency with straight needle techniques.
 - Experience with centrifuges.
 
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- GED or High School Diploma.
 - Experience in a high volume patient service center or oncology center.
 
Job Type & Location
This is a position based out of Jersey City, New Jersey.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr.
