GXO Forklift Operator Responsibilities and Duties

At GXO Logistics, forklift operators play a critical role in moving goods efficiently and safely across facilities such as warehouses, distribution centers, and ports. The role is part of GXO’s broader material handling team, which ensures goods flow from origin to final destination GXO .

Core Responsibilities

• Operating equipment safely : Operate powered industrial lift trucks, order pickers, and other material handling equipment to push, pull, lift, stack, or move product, equipment, and materials GXO +1 .

• Loading/unloading trailers : Perform inbound receiving and outbound shipping by loading and unloading trailers as needed GXO +1 .

• Using handheld scanners : Operate handheld scanners with high accuracy to track and record inventory movements GXO +1 .

• Maintaining cleanliness : Adhere to the 7S program (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, Safety) to keep work areas clean and organized GXO +1 .

• Following processes : Demonstrate commitment to process excellence and supply chain quality policies GXO .

• Teamwork and communication : Work well in a team environment, communicate effectively, and follow safety protocols GXO +1 .

Key Duties

• Safety compliance : Follow all safety rules and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries; GXO emphasizes a “safety first” culture aiming for zero job-related incidents GXO .

• Flexibility : Be available for flexible schedules, including overtime, weekends, and shifts as needed GXO +1 .

• Physical demands : Lift up to 50 lbs frequently and over 75 lbs occasionally; bend, stoop, squat, twist, push, and pull; stand, sit, or walk for long periods GXO +1 .

• Environmental tolerance : Work in hot or cold warehouse conditions and handle various tools and equipment GXO +1 .

Qualifications and Requirements

• Certification : Must be trained and certified in the safe operation of powered industrial lift trucks GXO +1 .

• Education : High school diploma or equivalent.

• Experience : At least 1 year of warehouse experience preferred.

• Skills : Positive attitude, strong communication, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment GXO +1 .
