Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision and guidance to counselors, interns, and other clinical staff.
  • Conduct regular individual and group clinical supervision meetings.
  • Review and approve biopsychosocial assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other clinical documentation for accuracy, quality, and compliance.
  • Ensure all clinical documentation is completed within required timeframes and meets regulatory standards.
  • Monitor client treatment progress and assist staff with complex or high-risk cases.
  • Conduct case consultations and multidisciplinary treatment team meetings.
  • Ensure implementation of evidence-based practices and person-centered treatment approaches.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical programming.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations, including:
    • New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH)
    • Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS)
    • Department of Corrections (when applicable)
    • HIPAA Confidentiality Regulations (42 CFR Part 2)
    • CARF, ACA, or other accreditation standards (if applicable)
  • Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor staff productivity and performance.
  • Conduct employee evaluations, coaching sessions, and corrective actions as needed.
  • Assist with onboarding, orientation, and ongoing training of clinical staff.
  • Provide crisis intervention and clinical consultation when necessary.
  • Collaborate with medical providers, case managers, recovery support staff, and community agencies to coordinate client care.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing coverage for clinical services.
  • Participate in agency meetings, audits, licensing visits, and accreditation reviews.
  • Maintain accurate statistical reports and clinical performance metrics.
  • Promote ethical standards and professional conduct among clinical staff.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field.
  • Current New Jersey clinical licensure required (LCSW, LPC, or LMFT preferred).
  • LCADC required; applicants holding both a clinical license and LCADC preferred.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience providing substance use disorder treatment.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of ASAM Criteria and DSM-5 diagnostic criteria.
  • Knowledge of motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, relapse prevention, trauma-informed care, and recovery-oriented systems of care.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in electronic health records (EHR) and Microsoft Office applications.
