Position: Road Inspector - NICET Level III or IV or equivalent
Reports to: Project Manager/Resident Engineer
General Qualities:
- Proactive self-starter.
- Provides the necessary technical support to the Project Manager/Resident Engineer.
Technical Responsibilities:
- Possesses strong technical skills; strong computer skills; strong mathematical skills including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry; excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Inspects the work performed by the contractor related to the construction of the various components of a construction project for conformity with the contract plans and specifications.
- Performs mathematical calculations for determining dimensions of construction items and computing daily progress quantities.
- Prepares clear, accurate and detailed daily reports properly documenting the contractor's activities in accordance with the contract plans and specifications and the Owner's guidelines and standards.
- Verifies that the materials to be incorporated into the project conform to the type, brand, and grade specified in the contract plans and specifications.
- Collects samples for laboratory analysis and perform tests as necessary to determine the quality and quantity of materials incorporated into the project.
- Collects information related to trainees, wage rates and minority goals for verification of EEO and compliance provisions of the specifications.
- Prepares as-built calculations and measurements to properly document project quantities.
- Is proficient in software required to complete assigned projects.
- Responsive to Client and other KSE Department needs.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Familiar with all company policies and procedures and verifies implementation and compliance.
- Completes time sheet on a daily basis.
Requirements:Educational Requirements:
- High School Diploma
Experience:
- 10 years of Road construction projects (Construction Cost > $10M).
- 2 years on NJDOT projects preferred.
Professional Licenses/Registrations:
- NICET Certification in Roadway Construction Level 1 through 4 ACI Field Technician.
- NJSAT Certification
- OHSA 10, 30 or 40-hour Safety Certification
- TCP (Rutgers CAIT)
Professional Development:
- Actively participates in professional development and training and licensing.
