About This Role
The Learning Gate seeks a seasoned Lead Teacher for our Toddler program. This role demands hands-on classroom leadership, curriculum implementation, and a passion for early childhood development.
Key responsibilities include coordinating the curriculum, developing a cohesive teaching team, and overseeing day-to-day classroom operations.
To thrive in this role, one must be knowledgeable about children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development, ensuring a safe and engaging classroom environment.
Excellent communication skills are essential for interacting with children and adults, guiding teacher assistants, and resolving parental concerns.
What You'll Do Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement engaging educational curriculum for toddlers, incorporating developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.
- Lead by example, fostering a collaborative team environment, and providing guidance and support to the teaching team.
- Design and execute age-appropriate activities to promote children's social, cognitive, and emotional growth.
- Maintain open communication with parents through regular discussions, progress reports, and conferences.
- Ensure adherence to center policies and state regulations.
- Maintain a clean and safe classroom environment, prioritizing hygiene, cleanliness, and children's safety.
- Supervise teacher assistants and volunteers, ensuring they follow established protocols and safety standards.
- Manage accurate records, forms, and files in a timely and organized manner.
- Establish and maintain a personal professional development plan for continuous quality improvement.
- Must clear a full background check.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
- Experience with toddlers (ages 2 to 3).
- Infant/Toddler or Preschool CDA.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional child care experience.
- High energy and ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and foster a team environment.
- Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
- Ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, and hear and speak at many levels. May also be required to kneel, bend, squat, or crawl.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- A strong understanding of child development.
- A degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education or related field.
- Infant/Toddler or Preschool CDA or willingness to pursue certification.
- Spanish language skills for effective communication with diverse families.
- Experience in supervisory roles or a willingness to learn.
- Highly organized and efficient with exceptional multitasking abilities.
