Program Reporting & Analytics Analyst

Remote within New Jersey (required)

ABOUT MARYLAND ENERGY ADVISORS

Maryland Energy Advisors (MDEA) is a rapidly growing energy management and consulting firm supporting utilities, businesses, commercial property owners, manufacturers, restaurants, and institutional customers throughout the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond.

Our work helps utility customers reduce energy consumption, lower operating costs, and improve sustainability outcomes through innovative energy efficiency programs. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Program Reporting & Analytics Analyst to help build the reporting infrastructure and business intelligence capabilities that support successful program delivery.

POSITION OVERVIEW

This is not a traditional data analyst role focused solely on producing reports.

We are looking for someone who can build and maintain the reporting ecosystem that allows program leaders to understand performance, identify risks, and make data-driven decisions.

You will work closely with Program Managers, Operations Managers, and Engagement Managers to consolidate information from multiple systems, create meaningful dashboards and scorecards, identify trends, and deliver actionable insights that improve program performance.

The ideal candidate enjoys solving business problems through data, is comfortable working with multiple data sources, and has a natural curiosity about what the numbers are telling the business.

This role is ideal for someone who wants to move beyond reporting and become a trusted analytical partner to program leadership.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Reporting & Business Intelligence

  • Design, build, and maintain the reporting infrastructure used to manage utility energy efficiency programs.
  • Develop recurring dashboards, scorecards, KPI reports, and executive summaries that provide visibility into program performance.
  • Create and maintain Power BI dashboards and reporting tools that support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting automation, efficiency, and usability.
  • Document reporting methodologies, calculations, and data sources to ensure long-term sustainability.

Data Analysis & Insights

  • Consolidate and reconcile data from multiple sources, including program tracking systems, Excel-based databases, SharePoint, Power BI, and operational platforms.
  • Analyze program performance data to identify trends, risks, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Proactively communicate insights and recommendations to program leadership.
  • Support forecasting, planning, and performance monitoring activities.
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable information for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Program Operations Support

  • Partner with Program Managers, Operations Managers, and Engagement Managers to define reporting requirements and performance visibility needs.
  • Support quality assurance and data validation efforts to ensure reporting accuracy.
  • Assist with client reporting, regulatory reporting, and internal performance reviews.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives through operational analysis and data-driven recommendations.
  • Support special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

Within your first year, you will:

  • Build a reliable reporting ecosystem that consolidates data from multiple systems.
  • Create dashboards that become trusted tools for program management and decision-making.
  • Improve visibility into program performance, operational efficiency, and customer outcomes.
  • Help leadership identify issues before they become problems.
  • Deliver actionable insights that improve program execution and business results.

  • Become a trusted analytical resource for program and operations teams.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Analytics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Information Systems, Finance, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Must currently reside in New Jersey.
  • 2–5 years of experience in reporting, analytics, business operations, program support, business intelligence, or a related analytical role.
  • Demonstrated experience building dashboards, reports, scorecards, or performance-tracking tools used by business or operations teams.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookup functions, data validation, reconciliation, and reporting automation.
  • Experience using Power BI or similar business intelligence and data visualization platforms.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the ability to translate data into business insights.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and integrity.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel up to 10%.

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience supporting utility, energy efficiency, demand-side management (DSM), demand response, sustainability, or related programs.
  • Experience working with program tracking systems, operational databases, CRM platforms, or large datasets.
  • Background in operations analysis, program performance reporting, project coordination, or process improvement.
  • Experience identifying trends, risks, and opportunities through business intelligence and analytics.

  • Familiarity with utility program operations, contractor networks, field operations, or customer engagement programs.
  • Interest in sustainability and energy efficiency.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Primarily remote, with travel required for customer meetings, client engagements, and regional events.
  • Fast-paced, collaborative, and team-oriented culture with opportunities for professional growth.

BENEFITS
