Job Summary
Serve as the primary onsite technical expert for Distributed Control Systems (DCS) during commissioning and startup phases. Collaborate with the Commissioning Manager and cross-disciplinary leads, ensuring DCS integrity, safety compliance, and seamless system integration into plant operations.
Job Description
- Champion all DCS commissioning and startup activities, including functional loop testing, validation of control strategies, and pre-commissioning checks.
- Ensure all safety protocols, especially LOTO are strictly followed during commissioning.
- Maintain and troubleshoot DCS I/O databases; coordinate closely with I&C and electrical leads for loop checkout and system integration.
- Oversee DCS system documentation: manage red-line/as-built drawings and ensure accurate logging of system modifications.
- Collaborate on spare parts and consumables procurement for DCS commissioning tools and instrumentation.
- Lead site commissioning tasks by supervising contractor and craft personnel and escalating issues to the Commissioning Manager promptly.
- Generate daily activity reports, document lessons learned and contribute to commissioning wrap-up and turnover deliverables.
Skills Required
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in instrumentation and controls commissioning, ideally within power plants or heavy industrial sectors.
- Must have Emerson Ovation experience / knowledge.
- Strong working knowledge of DCS environments (loop testing, database maintenance, configuration).
- Proven ability to supervise and lead field commissioning teams and manage integrated testing activities.
- Solid understanding of industrial control systems safety standards and commissioning workflows.
Education/Training/Certifications
- Associate degree (or equivalent experience) in Control Systems, Instrumentation & Controls, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
