Electric Pallet Jack Operator
The Picker operates pallet jacks and other material handling equipment to move materials and finished goods throughout a warehouse and food production environment. This role pulls materials based on work orders, delivers them to machines, stages completed pallets for shipping, and returns unused materials to designated inventory locations. The Picker ensures inventory accuracy by verifying product codes, lot numbers, expiration dates, and quantities, and by accurately documenting all inventory movements in the system.
Responsibilities- Operate electric pallet jacks and other material handling equipment to move materials and finished goods across the warehouse and production floor.
- Use work orders to collect and pull required materials from inventory locations and deliver them to the appropriate machines or workstations.
- Stage finished goods pallets in designated shipping or staging areas to support outbound logistics and order fulfillment.
- Return unused materials from production areas back to warehouse inventory locations in an organized and timely manner.
- Pack food products on an assembly line, ensuring proper handling, accuracy, and adherence to production standards.
- Label packages with accurate weight and product information according to established procedures and quality requirements.
- Identify and pull defective or non-conforming products from the line to maintain product quality and safety standards.
- Stock workstations with necessary materials and supplies to keep production running efficiently and without interruption.
- Use RF scanners or RF scan guns to record inventory movements, confirm picks, and maintain real-time inventory accuracy.
- Verify product codes, lot numbers, expiration dates, and quantities to ensure correct materials are used and shipped.
- Perform order picking tasks to fulfill production and shipping requirements, following established picking processes.
- Follow all safety guidelines and equipment operating procedures while working in a forklift-driven, material movement–focused environment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in both warehouse and production spaces to support safety and efficiency.
- Collaborate with production and warehouse team members to meet daily output, accuracy, and quality goals.
- Experience operating pallet jacks and material handling equipment in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to perform order picking, packing, and inventory-related tasks with a high level of accuracy.
- Proficiency using RF scanners or RF scan guns to track inventory and document material movements.
- Knowledge of basic inventory control practices, including verifying lot codes, expiration dates, and quantities.
- Ability to work effectively on a production or assembly line, packing food products and handling materials safely.
- High school diploma.
- Valid Material Handling Equipment (MHE) license.
- 1–2 years of forklift or warehouse manufacturing experience preferred.
- Ability to stand for 8–10+ hour shifts.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Capacity to work safely and efficiently in a physically active, fast-paced environment.
- Previous experience in a warehouse and food manufacturing setting.
- Background in material handling, picking, packing, and production support.
- Familiarity with using RF scanners and inventory systems to maintain accurate stock records.
- Comfort working around forklifts and other powered industrial equipment.
- Strong attention to detail when labeling packages and verifying product information.
- Reliability and punctuality for overnight shift work.
- Ability to follow written work orders and standard operating procedures.

Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a warehouse and food manufacturing setting on a third shift schedule, working Monday to Friday from 12:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. The position is physically active and fast-paced, involving frequent standing, lifting, and operation of pallet jacks and other equipment for extended periods. The environment features moderate noise levels and moderate temperature conditions, with a strong focus on safe material movement and efficient production support.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Totowa, NJ.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
