Apprentice Technician

Overview

The Apprentice Technician is responsible for performing minor repairs and limited preventative maintenance on assigned equipment, under the direct supervisor of the senior maintenance personnel. The Apprentice Technician works as a member of the Maintenance & Equipment team and reports to the Maintenance & Equipment Manager.

Essential Functions

· Perform minor repairs and assigned preventative maintenance services

· Completes paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program (Whip Around) documenting parts usage and accounting for repair times

· Assists Diesel Technician B, Senior Diesel Mechanic A and other maintenance personnel with equipment repairs, adjustments and other project work

· Wash and clean both vehicles and equipment

· Assists with service calls for breakdowns

· Conduct daily inspections and safety checks on vehicles

· Assists senior mechanics in completion of project work

· Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other safety standards

· Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures

· Ability to lift and move over 25 pounds

· May require ability stand for extended periods of time

· Perform job related tasks requiring dexterity

Qualifications

· Valid driver license

· No prior mechanical experience required, willing to train competent individuals

· Ability to perform physical requirements of the position as needed

· Must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States

· Ability to lift and move over 25 pounds

· May require ability stand for extended periods of time

· Perform job related tasks requiring dexterity
