We’re Hiring: GIS Mapper / GIS Technician

Location: Clifton, NJ (Hybrid after initial onsite training)

Pay Rate: $30.00 – $33.00/hr W2

Contract Length: 2 Years (Possibility of extension)

Are you a GIS professional or a recent graduate with hands-on GIS mapping experience looking to build your career in the energy and utility sector? We are seeking a GIS Mapper to maintain and update connected geospatial models for electric distribution systems.

Key Responsibilities

• GIS Model Maintenance: Update, edit, and modify electric connected model data using work orders, as-built construction drawings, completion records, and field reports.
• Mapping & Print Distribution: Produce standard prints and ad-hoc map plots for field requests. Travel once a week to sub-headquarters for print distributions.
• Data & Spatial Analysis: Perform queries, tabular data analysis, and asset tracking (service point relationships, history, inspection records, and attachments).
• Field Verification: Resolve conflicting mapping/connectivity issues via office or occasional field investigations (approx. 5–10% field/onsite work).

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: 1–2 years of GIS experience (academic coursework, internships, or professional experience accepted).
• Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in updating, editing, and modifying geospatial data. MicroStation or AutoCAD experience is a strong plus.
• Driver’s License: Valid NJ driver’s license (minimal local travel using personal vehicle may be required).
• Work Environment: Comfortable working in a unionized electric utility environment with structured reporting and work order processing.

Work Location & Schedule Details

• Training Phase: First 6 to 12 weeks will be 100% Onsite in Clifton, NJ for full operational training.
• Hybrid Transition: Eligible for a hybrid schedule (remote + onsite rotation) based on performance and independent workload completion.
• Travel: Ability to commute once per week to a secondary local sub-headquarters.
