Job Overview:
An RWJBarnabas Health RWJBH Assistant Director of Facilities job involves assisting the Director with managing and coordinating maintenance for all medical centers and off-site facilities, ensuring regulatory compliance, and overseeing staff and contractor activities,
Key duties include daily staff assignments, budget management, overseeing preventive maintenance, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment, and responding to facility emergencies.
The role requires strong leadership to work with regulatory agencies like Joint Commission and DOH and other departments within the organization.
Qualifications:
Required:
• High School Diploma
• At least five years of supervisory experience in an equivalent position in an acute care hospital.
• Must have experience with HVAC systems, emergency generator and electrical systems, plumbing, and construction
• Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Proficiency with Computer Assisted Drafting CAD software is required
• Valid NJ Driver’s License.
Preferred:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• NJ Blue Seal Boiler License
Scheduling Requirements:
• Full-Time
Essential Functions:
• Manage up to 20 FTEs.
• Conduct and manage minor renovations.
• Support the hospital s stated mission.
• Assist in Providing TEAMWORK and support the various departments within the hospital.
• Assist to Ensure mission critical equipment is operating correctly.
• Assist to Ensure the department conducts maintenance in a safe manner.
• Ensure departmental staff complete required training.
• Assign daily tasks to department staff and oversee contractor activities.
• Coordinate and manage maintenance programs for buildings and grounds, including HVAC, electrical, and equipment repair.
• Be available to respond to facility emergencies during off-hours.
• Develop budgets, monitor expenses, and manage department costs.
• Assist in short- and long-range planning for new facilities and utilities management.
• Communicate with and support other departments to address their service requests and keep them informed of progress.
• The ability to manage and lead a team, delegate tasks, and hold staff accountable,
• Experience with facilities maintenance, including preventive maintenance, HVAC, and electrical systems.
• Experience with budget development, financial monitoring, and variance reporting.
• Strong communication skills to interact with staff, contractors, and other departments,
• Familiarity with healthcare-specific regulations and standards is often require
