About the Role:

As a Radiology Technician, you will play a crucial role in the healthcare team by performing diagnostic imaging procedures that assist physicians in diagnosing and treating patients. Your primary responsibility will be to operate X-ray equipment and ensure that high-quality images are produced while adhering to safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure. You will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work area, which is essential for both patient safety and operational efficiency. In addition to technical skills, you will provide quality patient care by ensuring that patients are comfortable and informed throughout the imaging process. Ultimately, your work will contribute significantly to the overall health and well-being of the patients you serve.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform X-ray examinations on patients as per physician orders.
  • Ensure compliance with radiation safety protocols to protect patients and staff.
  • Maintain and operate radiographic equipment, ensuring it is in good working condition.
  • Prepare patients for imaging procedures by explaining the process and positioning them correctly.
  • Document and maintain accurate patient records and imaging results.
  • Verifying patients' identity and reviewing physicians’ orders before beginning x-ray procedures.
  • Using x-ray equipment to take radiographic images of patients' bones, tissues, and organs as per physicians’ written orders.
  • Explaining x-ray procedures to patients and answering their questions.
  • Positioning patients accordingly, which may include lifting and moving patients with limited mobility.
  • Limiting patients' exposure to radiation by placing lead shields on patients where needed.
  • Ensuring that the x-rays taken are of sound quality to prevent repeat procedures.
  • Working closely with the resident Radiologist to determine whether further tests are required.
  • Ensuring that the x-ray equipment is regularly serviced and in good working order.
  • Promptly notifying management of damaged or malfunctioning x-ray equipment.
  • Maintaining an accurate record of completed x-ray procedures on daily basis.
  • Track monthly graphs of patient count.
  • Processes x-rays requested from other doctors and receives x-rays from other facilities
  • Follow all written protocols and procedures of the practice.
  • Demonstrate courtesy and helpfulness toward patients and their families.
  • Maintain knowledge of company policies, procedures, and products/services
  • Team players are key for this role.
  • Ability to travel to different sites when needed.

  • Job Qualifications, Education and Experience :

  • Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

  • Appropriate state licensure-NJ

  • Proven experience working as an X-ray technician.

  • Ability to move or lift patients.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • A patient and compassionate disposition.

  • Must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships

Skills:

The required skills of X-ray operation and radiation safety are essential for performing imaging procedures safely and effectively. Clinical setting experience enhances your ability to interact with patients and healthcare professionals, ensuring a smooth workflow. Basic computer knowledge is utilized for managing patient records and operating imaging software, which is critical for accurate documentation. Quality patient care skills are vital for creating a supportive environment, helping patients feel at ease during their procedures. Maintaining a clean and organized work area is not only a matter of safety but also reflects professionalism and contributes to the overall efficiency of the healthcare facility.
