Job Overview:

Under the supervision of the Environmental Services Department, the EVS Supervisor reports to an Environmental Services Manager and is responsible for directing and assisting with the completion of housekeeping tasks assigned to the Environmental Services Associates.

Qualifications:

Required:

• GED or High School Diploma

Preferred:

• At least 3 years of supervisory experience in a healthcare, hotel or service environment preferred.

Essential Functions:

• Oversees routine cleaning (e.g. terminal cleaning, daily patient room/discharge, general/common areas, carpet care, dust/wet mopping, floor care, restrooms, special projects, etc.) in accordance with departmental and hospital standards.
• Manages the collection of patient and/or biohazard trash from receptacles and ensures that it is properly disposed of in designated areas.
• Completes work assignments in a timely manner and maintains departmental quality standards while performing job duties
• Utilizes and ensures staff is utilizing appropriate chemicals and supplies according to departmental policy and procedure
• Oversees the cleaning of secured medication rooms in a safe, timely and independent manner
• Dispatch through computerized paging system to the next available housekeeper efficiently and completely.
• Dispatch beds within timeframes established by departmental
• Continually monitor bed turnover status and adjust staffing accordingly
• Record all related delays and completions accurately
• Manages and maintains the cleaning of equipment, such as cleaning carts, carpet extractors, hi/low speed buffing machines, auto-scrubbers and burnishing machines.
• Ensure staff cleans equipment and notifies proper personnel of needed repairs
• Ensure staff maintains a clean and neat cart, closet, and equipment storage area
• Ensure staff has the supplies necessary in order to perform daily routines
• Assist the management team with any special projects
• Assist with new hire on-boarding, training and development, inventory and equipment management, assignments, opening/closing department, covering schedules as needed, room inspections, etc.
• Provide direction for Environmental Service Associates to ensure departmental standards are maintained to the highest level.
• Adjust assignments or cleaning schedules of staff to ensure adequate coverage as absences or emergencies may require
• Responsible for completing Environmental Services daily assignment sheets
• On-board new employees and provide staff training as needed.
• Inspect patient rooms and non-patient areas as assignments, including room enhancement projects.
• Delegate work flow and instructions to EVS associates on a daily basis. Ensures work assignments and room setups are completed
• Ensures Regulated Medical Waste is packaged and handled according to state regulations
• Perform Quality Assurance checks and walk-throughs of all assigned areas, including room enhancement projects.
• Distribute and receive keys, equipment, phones/pagers at the start and end of the shift and ensure all tools, equipment, and materials are returned in proper condition to designated areas at the end of assigned shifts.
• Ensure Environmental Service Aides complete their assigned schedules/job duties
