Yard Manager
EHC is currently looking for a Yard Manager for a client in the Middlesex, NJ area.
Job Summary:
Leads and oversees all operational activities within Pipe Yard Operations, including Receiving, Shipping, and Personnel Management. Utilizes data-driven insights to plan workloads and enhance efficiency across the entire Shipping and Receiving department. Delegates tasks effectively to department leads and team members to ensure smooth operations. Manage inventory flow while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Manage 8 or more direct reports
- Work closely with sales and the logistics department
- Manage workflow with warehouse personnel
- Communicate with inbound and outbound truck drivers
- Enforce all safety and quality guidelines
- Ensure accurate inventory
- Any other duties/ projects as requested by the Operations Manager
Department Responsibilities:
QMS:
- Train on Department Work Instructions & Job Scope
- Train on Quality Policy and Department Processes
- Process Flow
- Conduct meetings and submit training records
- Deliver feedback for process errors or improvement opportunities
- Effectively identify areas that need additional training
Safety:
- Hold brief daily safety meetings with department personnel
- Maintain clear aisle ways and organize racks and dock space
- Maintain equipment checklists
- Enforces and monitors “Lock-out/Tag-out” protocol
- Communicates equipment breakdowns and safety hazards to upper management and HSE
- Ongoing responsibility of creating and implementing a safe work environment
Qualifications:
- Five years or more of warehouse related experience
- Five years or more of pipe yard experience
- Two years or more of managing performance
- Understand quality guidelines and safety rules
- Positive attitude / Results driven
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
