Position Overview
As a Pastry Sous Chef, your role will be pivotal in collaborating with the executive chef and other culinary team members to design and implement seasonal menus that showcase our commitment to culinary excellence.
You will be responsible for overseeing the baking of an array of pastries tailored for our various outlets, special events, and guest requests.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and executing seasonal pastry menus and dessert offerings.
- Oversee production of pastries, cakes, cookies, pies, plated desserts, and confections.
- Manage pastry preparation for catered events and special orders.
- Train, mentor, and supervise pastry team members.
- Ensure product quality, consistency, presentation, and freshness.
- Support scheduling, inventory management, purchasing, and cost control.
- Maintain pastry equipment and ensure a clean, organized work environment.
- Stay current on pastry trends, techniques, and innovations.
- Ensure compliance with HACCP, food safety, and sanitation standards.
- Support the Executive Chef in delivering an exceptional guest experience.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of pastry experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of classical and modern pastry techniques, artisanal baking, and plated desserts.
- Proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of inventory management, food costing, and food safety standards.
- High School Diploma or GED required; formal pastry or culinary education preferred.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
