RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervisor of Student Services

The Supervisor of Student Services is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the effective implementation of 504 plans, Special Education, English as a Second Language (ESL) programs, academic intervention services (MTSS & Tutoring programs), and the supervision and development of Teacher Assistants (TAs). This role focuses on program compliance, instructional leadership, staff training, and data-driven decision-making to support student success. The Supervisor will work collaboratively with the Academy Dean, teachers, and support staff, to implement best practices in intervention and inclusive education, with a particular emphasis on K-3 intervention strategies.

Program Oversight & Compliance

• Ensure all 504 plans, IEPs, ESL services, and intervention programs are implemented in compliance with state and federal regulations.

• Monitor and refine MTSS/NJTSS frameworks to provide tiered interventions for students in need of academic and behavioral support.

• Work in collaboration with the Special Education Compliance Coordinator to oversee the identification, evaluation, and placement process for Special Education, ESL, and intervention students.

• Ensure accurate and timely reporting and documentation for compliance, funding, and student progress monitoring.

• In collaboration with the Academy Dean, develop, implement, and oversee tutoring programs, including:

• Identifying students in need of tutoring based on assessment data.

• Monitoring the effectiveness of tutoring services through data collection and progress tracking.

Instructional Leadership & Intervention Support

• Analyze student performance data to drive decision-making, ensuring interventions and tutoring services effectively close achievement gaps.

• Work in collaboration with the Academy Dean and Teacher Coaches to develop and implement evidence-based intervention strategies, particularly for K-3 literacy and math.

• Collaborate with MTSS team and teachers to align interventions and tutoring programs with core instruction and provide targeted support for students.

• Oversee the coordination of intervention services, including push-in, pull-out, small group instruction, and individualized support.

• Provide coaching, support, and evaluation for Special Education teachers, ESL teachers, interventionists, and TAs

• Develop and lead professional development sessions for general education and special education teachers on:

  • MTSS/NJTSS frameworks and tiered interventions.
  • Data-driven decision-making for student support.
  • Differentiated instruction, accommodations, and inclusive practices

Teacher Assistant Supervision & Professional Development

• Supervise, train, and provide ongoing support for Teacher Assistants (TAs) working in K-3 classrooms and special education settings.

• Develop and implement structured professional development for TAs, focusing on:

  • Effective small group instruction techniques.
  • Implementing accommodations and modifications for students with diverse learning needs.
  • Supporting phonological awareness, early literacy, and foundational math skills.
  • Managing classroom behavior and engagement strategies.

• Provide coaching and modeling for TAs, ensuring they are effectively supporting intervention programs and classroom instruction.

Requirements

Candidates must hold Standard Teacher License, Teacher of Students with Disabilities Endorsement along and NJ Supervisor Standard certification.

Candidates who meet the requirements but do not hold NJ Department of Education certification should apply for it immediately at . New Jersey requires such certification to teach in traditional or charter public schools.
