CWA Local 1040, a labor organization based in Trenton, NJ, seeks a part-time, self-driven, detail-oriented Bookkeeper . The successful candidate will assist our Local Treasurer with day-to-day accounting operations.

Salary: $25 – $27 Per Hour, based on experience.

This position is 25 hours per week.

Duties & Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Ensure that all invoices are accurately entered into the Accounts Payable module.
• Apply the correct account coding to invoices before payment and confirm the necessary level of authorization.
• Provide exceptional customer service by promptly responding to vendor inquiries about account balances.
• Maintain vendor files to guarantee accessibility, accuracy, completeness, and alignment with the Local financial policies and procedures.
• Keep comprehensive accounts payable records for audit purposes.
• Review branch meeting minutes diligently
• Proactively notify branch officers of any missing documentation.
• Maintain a precise log of payments made to officers and members for travel reimbursement or as directed.
• Generate and deliver reports to the Treasurer or President.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

• An associate's degree in accounting or 2 years of relevant experience
• Proficiency in QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and Word.
• Knowledge of general accounting principles.
• The candidate must have organization and time management skills
• Ability to work confidentially.
• The candidate must be professional and able to relate well with individuals at all levels.
