Job Summary: Wetlands Incorporated is seeking a skilled and reliable Truck and Equipment Mechanic to join our landscape and site construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the repair, maintenance, and management of our fleet of diesel trucks, pickup trucks, and our small and large construction equipment. They will also maintain inventories for all items and ensure that our vehicles and tools are in optimal condition to support our operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel trucks, pickup trucks, and construction equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical issues and provide effective solutions to minimize downtime.
- Manage the inventory of spare parts and tools necessary for vehicle and equipment maintenance.
- Ensure that all vehicles and equipment are safe to operate and comply with industry standards.
- Coordinate with the operations team to schedule maintenance activities without disrupting work.
- Keep detailed records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory levels.
- Assist in the training of staff on equipment operation and maintenance procedures.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a mechanic with a focus on diesel engines and small tools.
- Knowledge of landscape and site construction equipment is a plus.
- Ability to read technical manuals and interpret schematics.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with team members and clients.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) regularly.
- Must be able to stand, walk, crouch, kneel, stoop, climb ladders, crawl, or reach overhead for extended periods.
Work Environment:
- Works in a shop environment with exposure to diesel fumes, noise, dust, and other potential hazards. Safety gear must be worn at all times.
